The Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR) already tests the ACROBA platform in real-situation settings to experience the software for bin-picking and ordered placing tasks on real robots.
This video shows those first tests and the process the robot is going through to manage its tasks.
The robotic industrial cell is comprised of a Kuka Kr3r540 robot equipped with an on-arm Realsense D435i 3D camera.
The bin-picking task requires the robot to pass through several steps.
First, the 3D data is processed. Then, cad matching and AI-based tools are used to localise the part. Finally, the part is picked and placed in an ordered pattern.
